Department plan and simulation game

Changes throughout Rabobank are affecting various departments of its financial services centre. The unit responsible for specialist back-office processes anticipated this by designing a departmental plan and a simulation game.

Task description

Developed a map for the department, sketched out a vision for its future role, and incorporating decision-making dilemmas into a simulation game.

Results

  • Process map
  • Plan of action for transition
  • Simulation game

Approach

In this project, in collaboration with a number of employees from various teams in the department, Susanne produced a detailed qualitative and quantitative analysis of the current workload. This provided insight into possible bottlenecks and the accompanying time challenges if these activities continued as expected. Some processes ended because they were temporary or related to products that were being phased out. However, a growth in volume was anticipated in other processes.
To make employees aware of the various facets of the decision-making process, Susanne designed and implemented a simulation game with approximately 70 participants. This was an enjoyable way to experience the dilemmas faced when decisions must be made without a full knowledge of future circumstances.
